From the pictue one can’t tell much but I made two oak frames with glass, hinged them with a 1/2 inch spacer of African Mahogany and strung simple jack chain across the inside. Now it is a safe space a little dust free and the stars can be changed easily. Used those Miller dowels to make the frames, three brass hinges and a simple hook catch. The cabinet measurs 17×44 just the size of the fixed window it is installed in. Oh yea did I mention that she loves it.

Great solution. My wife is a big fan of these ornaments also. Thanks for sharing.
