Made this to stick our mail in to try to clean up the counter clutter. So far made a big difference but should have made 2 of them!

Wanted to have a contrasting wood for the base but didnt have anything usable in the scrap bin.

The slats are like a mirror image. Made templates if i ever want to make another

Looks good and useful. I like the design using different height dividers….....not all mail is created equal so you need different sizes.
Only change I would have incorporated is to make the dado stop short and not extend through the front of the piece. That would have required you to notch each divider but I think it would be a cleaner look. Just my 2 cents.
Well done.

The slats ate actually all the same height, its kind of an optical illusion. I made templates in sketchup. Basically i cut the slats in sketchup going from the top corner of one end to the opposite midpoint side on the other side if that makes sense.

I do agree with the comment about the dados and had considered either using a router to cut them or glueing pieces on each side to hide the dados but just decided to go this way because of time constraints. I needed to get this built and finished before the cold weather came in and only had a few hours. Anyways thanks for your opinions!

Nice project. I like the optical illusion a lot. I definitely keep this on in mind. Thanks for sharing.

I like it, very architectural. I keep seeing an interesting roof.

Great project. Very Frank Lloyd Wright-esque.
