Very simply, I hate buying cards. Buying chocolate is always a catch twenty two where my wife both loves it and hates it. Blah, Blah, Blah, It makes me fat, Blah, Blah Blah. I think you have all heard something like this. So, I made one this year. It’s a little early but by some standards it right on time. I am also finishing a night stand. Well, a second matching night stand. I will post some pictures when they are done.
It’s a very simple cedar plank laminated together from the box store. I cut out the heart shape with a jigsaw. I sanded the heck out of it. I then attached a simple stand cut from some scraps. Glued and screwed. You know that drill I am sure. Then I used Steve Ramsey’s/Jay Bates ink jet picture transfer method to put a few words and a couple wedding pictures on the top. The one on the left is a little dark but does look better in person. If it smears or you miss spell something, it’s an easy fix. Not that any one of my generation would ever miss spell anything. JK!!! Just sand and reprint the image. Side note, go into your printer setting before printing and kick the ink usage up to 11. ;) Other wise the image will turn out very light. A little trial and error. Lastly, I finished the assembly with some spray lacquer.
Please let me know what you think.
