I just finished up a commissioned rocking horse! I kept me super busy all week, but I know my customer will be pleased!
It’s made of Hard Maple and Walnut, and constructed using screws (faster assembly, it was a tight deadline) and dowels (also walnut).
And for the curious, I’m an Industrial Designer, so I use Rhinoceros for the 3D work. Just my preference.
I finished it with pure Tung oil from Woodcraft, which I read is safer for kids, though the little girl who will rock this horse (sorry, pun) isn’t even born yet, so it’ll sit for at least a year before it gets used regularly.
