The other day my girlfriend and i bought a (very)used car. We both wanted our own key so we didn’t have to worry about taking the key with us. That meant i was to have the original spare key. This involved a tiny problem though. The rubber/plastic handle snapped on my first attempt on using it.
So what to do? I decided to make a new handle from some scrapwood left over from another project.
I went for an arrowhead/leaf design and went on to carving.
my first idea was to carve the key into one piece and lock that with a lid of sorts. since that failed, due to clumsy hands, a decided to just do a carved piece, a lid and a steel dowel to keep it all in place.
After a little cutting, wittling, sanding and a touch of oil, the picture on the book is the result. Not quite sure if i’m satisfied, but at least it occupied my hands during the nerve wracking superbowl.
Any feedback would be most welcome.
