Some of my first projects were jigs and workshop aids… so I thought I’d add my top workshop projects… the third was my Mobile Cart for my Bench Dog Contractor Router Table. The cart is on wheels so that I can use it elsewhere in the shop for side support during cutting long boards on my table saw, since I made the top height adjustable. I normally keep it at the same height as my table saw and park it between the rails of my table saw (to save room… I considered a table saw mounted router table, but wanted more versatility). When needed I can move it arround for additional support, or change the height to match my jointer for additional support during jointing of long boards.

I am actually thinking of adding casters to my shop built table also. The extra height of the casters would bring the table up to a better working height also. I thought that a table the same height as my saw would be a good thing…but I spend more time routing then outfeeding so I want a higher table.

Nicely done! How do you adjust the height?
On a different note – I’m happy to see that I’m not the only one who puts tennis balls on things to protect people.

There are 4 knobs (2 per side) that loosen the top to allow it to move up or down. The top has vertical boards attached that go down about 4” on the inside of the base. Loosen the knobs, move the top up or down, and then re-tighten the knobs. I have spacers for common equipment heights (like the table saw) that go between the vertical boards (that extend down under the top) and the top shelf in the base.
