I recently built 2 floating nightstands that each have a secret magnetic locking mechanism for the top drawer. This lock is really what I want to share. It only costs $3 to build and is very simple to add to any existing piece of furniture with drawers. It only requires a hinge pin, a poker chip, and a 1/2 inch neodymium magnet that I found on Amazon.

The only metal part of this lock should be the hinge pin. I tried using a metal washer as the pin guide and the magnet caused the metal pieces to stick together. Hence, the plastic poker chip.

Yeah, a lot of the secret drawer locks you’ll find online seem more complicated than they need to be.

That’s awesome! I’ve got a small safe with my handgu inn it beside my bedside table. This is much more user friendly.
