I’ve been meaning to make a set of these for a while now for a jig I need to make tapered table and chair legs. Well, I found Izzy Swann’s plans out there and they were almost exactly what I needed.

I did alter them a bit to allow the clamp to open to a full 90 degrees. This was mostly just to keep the clamp pad out of the way while I place the wood in the jig from the top.

I also replaced the top nuts on the clamping pads with wingnuts (not pictured) to allow for MUCH quicker adjustment.

I also did away with that adjustment screw he has in his plans. I couldn’t really see it’s purpose and as it turns out they work fine without it. I can’t remember how much clamping pressure these are supposed to be rated for, but I’d easily put them up against some metal ones I have that are 100lb clamps.

I made one of these too. Need to make some more. I really like them. Looking at yours I can not see where the improvements were made. Can you please give more detail for my tiny brain?
