My brother in law was complaining that his wife (my sister) always throws his stuff away when cleaning. He said “all I want is a little place where I can put things so she won’t throw them away.” So I made him this tray out of zebrawood. Its about 6X4X1.5. I re-sawed the wood so the grain flows right around the corners. I finished it with a coat of tung oil and some antique wax (to bring the dark brown out). It was simple, but it was one of the more visually appealing pieces I’ve made with so little effort. No I just hope she doesn’t throw the tray away.

Nicely done! Do the sides taper, or is that an optical illusion due to the grain?
