This is a salt cellar based on the wood whisperer’s video. this was a fun and easy project. I had a stack of 4/4 cherry cutoffs all 10” long so I glued them together in a big stack. I used a 3-1/8” forstner bit to drill the holes, much easier than all the routing. I glued a dowel in the bottom cellar and cut it just short of the top lid. I used a finish washer and a 3/4” screw to tighten the “hinge” mechanism. It works quit well. The third pic is our salt pig that is being replaced.

Great idea for stacking multiple storage compartments.
I’ve turned several on a lathe with just one compartment.

Yours looks real nice. I like the modification to the hinge.
I have made 4 now based on the WW’s project. 3 mahogany and 1 cherry. Due to being a pepper mill fan I only have one compartment for the salt. That is the snob cook coming out and modifying the design. Wait, the South Mississippian is coming out and saying to make two compartments: salt and cayenne pepper. Not a bad thought.

you should post yours, I’d like to see them. I was thinking about making one with smaller compartments (2 or 3 holes per deck) to put common spices we use… and cayenne would be one of them. thanks for the comment.
