My household’s New Year resolution was to “de-clutter our lives”. So we have been methodically been cleaning out closets, cabinets, drawers, etc. in the spirit of this de-cluttering, my grilling tools lost their home in one of our cabinets. I decided that they would be more easily retrieved from a basket-like contraption in the pantry. I used slats on the front instead of solid to make it easier to grab items that might fall off a pantry shelf and into the basket. also, to dissuade spiders from setting up a home in the bottom. made entirely from scraps of other projects, it is 18” from top to bottom, 12” wide and 3 3/4” deep. 1/4” oak ply for the back, dadoed the sides and bottom (1/2” ply) to provide a glue channel. slats are solid oak, cut on the table saw with my thin rip jig. just over an hour of work in it from start to finish.
