Spalted Sweetgum Hand Carved Bowl

Hand carved oblong bowl from spalted sweetgum wood. Carved while green and finished with mineral oil. Sweetgum, which is common in the south eastern United States, is surprisingly easy and fun to carve. I am currently drying out some of the wood from this tree for future projects. So if anyone has any of this wood laying around their backyards, I highly recommend splitting it open and giving it a try!

nice work, great use of wood that some would end up burning or throwing away, always nice to see some creativity with the smaller logs laying around…
