Had the opportunity to honor a friend who recently retired with 28 yrs of service. He is a serious woodworker, so I was super nervous. The pine came from a 100+ year old church down the street. My LJ friend, tweetdriver, donated the wood and his time to help build the box.
Straight spar urethane for the finish…lots of sanding in between coats. The arts/crafts shop on base did the name, wings and placard on their CNC machine.
The guy’s sons did the hand carving on the rifle stock.
Same as usual…learned a lot!
