A treasure box for my 6 YO grandson to replace his cigar box. Priimary joinery is dovetail with dowelmax for top and bottom attachment. Band was done on the router table. Poly sprayed finish. Simple design to take the hard knocks of a young boys life.

Nice box, it will stand up to a 6 year old. Good idea to divert his attention and take away his cigars, difficult habit to quit.

Michael S., the wood is a local Thailand species called mai padoo and always has red heartwood wrapped with several inches of blond sap wood. See the burl table in my projects for a visual explanation.

The finish is several coats of air sprayed poly and hand rubbed with 1500 sandpaper.

That is a big improvement over the cigar box. Another real work of art!
