It has been quite some time since I have posted any projects. This piece was commissioned by the artist who drew the picture of the Yorkshire Terrier. He and his wife had this dog and it had passed away some time ago. The jewelry chest is a 2-Drawer Maple/Purpleheart – Walnut sides and measures 12” x 9” x 5 3/4”. The jewelry chest is made from a single piece of 4/5 Walnut that was resaw and cut so that it could be assembled to crest a beautiful grain-wrap pattern at the corners. The center where the laser engraved picture is Maple that was selected as to have very little grain in it so as not to interfere engraving. The joints of the jewelry boxes are mitered and accented with 4 pairs of splines, made from a contrasting wood. The draws are made with interlocking box joints for strength. Finished with two coats of M. L. Campbell Satin Krystal which is post-catalyzed conversion varnish finishing system which is Water white and non-Yellowing

This is a really nice chest. Lotsa nice details, and the wood combos work well together.
