This was my fist commisioned piece for some friends in now in Wichita. I did this in November 2004 while building onto our own house to make the shop. The Tabletop is 6/4 walnut runninglengthwise with breadboarded edges. The apron is dovetailed at the ends to capture the legs which have threaded inserts in the tops to bolt into. Delivered just in time for Thanksgiving
The table has no leaves, and is 108 inches long and 48 inches wide.
I used a water soluble dye to tone the sapwood and finished with Waterlox original

I love working with walnut… Very nice job! Looks like some nice matching chairs next?

The chairs were in the plan – but the costs to have 8 chairs wasn’t going to work out, so they purchased some mass produced product @45 dollars each.
I appreciate anyones thoughts on the commercial side on this issue – there is just so much time spend doing chairs that even though construction is better – the difference versus and Ashley Home, or god forbid Ikea is a nut I haven’t been able to up sell folks to. The solid wood tables seem to be a more popular item.
Thanks for looking
