Just finished one of these today and another with a little different look is almost done .
They were requested for Christmas but I just ran out of time and left them sit which was ok .
These had to have a little different look but the recipient could not tell me what look just that the new valet design I had made previously was the perfect layout .
I took it from there and hope this will be what they had in mind or atleast close .
Made from birch and jatoba with some walnut accents and base with a tan coloured cloth liner .
Dimesions are 17”W x 9”D x $ 4 1/4”H
Finished with BLO and a beeswax miniral oil top coat .
Comment good or not always welcome .

Klaus – super looking box. I like the layout of the various compartments and the overall look of the box with the various accent features. I’m sure y our customer will be very happy with it.

Lovely. I really like it. The woods work marvelously together and the “cloud lift” in the front and the edges creates a balanced and elegant Japanese feel to the whole thing. Nicely done!

Very attractive design with nice Oriental accents to give it an exotic look.

Thanks John
I am happy you like the design as it is a design that just happen as I built the box .
I have done the basic box before but the appearance can be changed into many different looks without any changes to the basic design .
I did a blog on this box and have one more installment to post .

A very appealing and intriguing design with a terrific Asian look. Very much like your choice of contrasting woods. Very well done!

Very interesting design. The jatoba/birch works really well together. Another beauty!

Thanks Randy ,Roger , John and Andy
Yes I too think this turned out well with the wood combination it made a pretty design but it just all happen on impulse as I had no idea when I started this box and just went by the seat of my pants .
It never stops to amaze me how that works ,I can sit and sketch for hours at times and come up blank and then go to the shop and have this in a couple of hours .
