I like pine too! it’s so easy to work with (and in this economy, the only thing afordable!)

I like your project. I’d like to do something similar, but line it with cedar.

I prefer hardwoods, but you’ve done a great job with this Joe! Nice design. What kind of stain did you use?

The wife dislikes pine. She doesn’t consider it a real wood. I guess with both of us growing up in Georgia with pine trees everywhere, I can almost understand her feeling. Pine is like a weed here. LOL
She liked the chest, just wishes I had made it in “real wood”.
I tried a gel stain on this. Candlelight by General Finishes. I made the mistake of not pretreating the wood, so it blotched really badly. 3 coats of MinWax satin poly on that with final coat of MinWax paste wax.
I’m working on a second one, for my daugther’s October birthday, which I have missed again. Between the weather/time change/and just not feeling real good lately, I haven’t done much on it the last month. This one will have a aromatic cedar bottom in it.
