Now that is awesome. I love the design and functionality. I'm sure my wife would love a few of those… seeing as the fabric ones always disappear in the washer or dryer.

As Artie Johnson would say "Very interesting". I'm trying to reverse engineer these…I think I understand…that usually means I don't have a clue. Heeheehee Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting. How does it work? How about adding a series of photos to the posting to show it 1/4 expanded, 1/2 expanded, and 3/4 expanded.

Maybe the pieces before you glued them together would help us understand how it works.

Neat puzzle.

Thanks for sharing.

The trivet just slides from small to large as seen in the photos or anywhere in-between. I have available to anyone who wants it a PDF file explaining how to make them. Just PM me and I will send it

They look great Don..good job and from the looks of the comments..you will be busy sending out plans. I'm sure the kids enjoyed getting something hand made from Dad as well.

Just did mine last night. it took me less than one hour (+ gluing time), my quickest project till now.
Beautiful project, really. easy built, very simple but at the same time very clever.

two quick questions:
1. from your experience - the glue joint is strong enough? no need for enforcing like dowels or such?
2. what finish would stand the heat of the pot? any experience with good finish for trivets?

Thanks again for posting this project, I'm having a lot of fun with this one.

Glad to hear, I use titebond 3 and if you overlap and clamp the 2 V 's correctly the joint is plenty strong. I finished mine with 3 coats wipe on poly
