Ribbon box made from maple and walnut. It is joined with handcut dovetails and is finished with a few coats of wiping varnish. I filled the box with one of my wife’s favorite candies; Andes mints. Special thanks to fellow LJ Lenny who posted a blog entry about this style of box a while back. His post caught my eye as I am always looking for new boxes to make. I purchased the back issue #161 of American Woodworker to use as a reference. I cut the mitres for the inlay banding using a small mitre box to get the rough angle. I dialed in the exact angle using a homemade mitre shooting board and #7 vintage Bailey plane.
