I am just a beginner in the woodcarving world and this is my first Diamond Willow Walking Cane. I hope you all enjoy it.

Update:
I was bored this past weekend so I did more work to my cane. I extended my woodspirits face and raised the beard, raised the diamonds and created a vine that wraps around the cane and joins all the diamonds, and I carved in a flower with leaves being visited by a ruby throated hummingbird. I even carved a very small hummingbird above the woodspirit and I changed his eyes to be looking up at it.

Then I finished it all off with a high gloss marine laquar to protect it when I bump into things or drop the cane as I use it every day.

Tom:
I have never done a cane, is willow commonly used for that? I have a good source for green weeping willow. Is weeping willow ok to use versus corkscrew or other?

Very nice!
Willow is very good for carving, almost any kind.

Thanks everyone I have only tried Diamond Willow so far for canes. I do have an aspen I will use too sitting in my shop but have a few Diamond Willows ahead of it.

Great job , I really like your carving , I like the way you wrapped the beard around the cane’s shaft . I also work with a lot of diamond willow , it’s great stuff to use.
