Bible Box for Christmas

A cherry and walnut Bible box I made for my girlfriend for Christmas. I had a few “inspiration pieces” (i.e. stolen ideas) that I have seen on this site and Google. :) It is finished with 3 coats of Minwax semi gloss polyurethane, sanded between coats with 320 grit.

I had a little trouble with tearout on the router while I was making the grooves, but I think because I am fairly new at this, I wanted to push them through too quickly. My brother had to keep reminding me to slow down so I wouldn’t get frustrated with little mistakes.

I definitely learned a lot on this project and am looking forward to some more projects that take time like this one.

That is a great Bible box. I like the contrasting woods and the raised cross.

Thanks for sharing.
