Project Information

This is the second of three bandsaw clocks that I made for Christmas presents this year. One will go to my parents, one to my in-laws, and one I will keep.

This bandsaw clock is made of layers of Walnut and Ash. I finished it with several coats of a wipe on poly to bring out the gorgeous natural grain of the different woods.

I really, really like what you did here with the combo bandsaw box and clock!
The bottom of the box not going completely under the drawer and the small section of the drawer put this design completely over the top.
I very seldom "Favorite" a project, but I have to on this one. Well done, my friend!

I also like the tall clock but I think I would prefer the drawers be left in. But you are the artist and your call.
Thank you for showing this really nice project.

Absolutely love it.
Well done!!!

I made it a "favorite" also….
Looking at trying my hand at something very similar.
Ok, I'll probably just steal the whole design.

Great looking box with the various wood and grain pattern. With teh drawer out, it even could be used stand alone clockgrains

Great design… I also did a favorite. How did you do the clock works insert?

wncguy - I picked up the clockworks @ Woodcraft. They set into a 2 3/8" x 13/16" hole. The hardest part was finding a Forstner bit that size. Most places carry it but almost all were sold out. Luckily I was able to pick one up from Grizzly.com.

Beautiful Band Saw Clock! I'm going to have to make one of these. One question though. How do you change the battery in the clock? Can your hand fit in far enough from the back or underneath to reach the battery compartment or can the clock be removed from the band saw box to do this?

Thanks Citroentje. These are really special.
Someone like Blackie would probably find a way to have a hidden drawer behind the clock too.

Rob - The clock works can be removed from the front to access the battery compartment. The clock is held in by a tight friction fit.

wncguy - I actually considered creating a hidden drawer when creating the recess for the clock but I was under a time crunch. Next time…
