About 2-3 weeks ago my camera gave up and went to Equipment Heaven to be with my Jointer, 2 Routers, 2 Circular Saws, several Cordless, Drills, and my old Planer. I hope they are all happy, restored and waiting for me to come set up shop by the Bridge.

Anyhow, in case you had thought I had passed or was now spending my time in Topless Bars, here are some of the things I’ve been doing. I know some of y’all will regret my having a new camera but look at my stuff anyhow.

The first one we are calling a potty stool. My granddaughter convinced me the GGS need a stool to stand on to get seated on the pot or to get to the sink for hand washing and teeth brushing. After that was done and in use, great Niece let me know she needed one for her youngster who is only 3 months behind Wyatt so here is hers….. or I should say Robert’s. It goes in the mail tomorrow and due to some exceptional design work, it fits exactly in the new Priority “C” Box. How do you like the grain and color in the top. Piece of Monte’s BKP with a live edge.

Next is the top of an almost finished Jewelry Box for youngest granddaughter (11 y/o). Her big sis got one 2 years ago and now Rachel has moved up to one of her own. It has a secret drawer and other neat stuff. It is my old favorite BKP all cut into random widths from scrap I’ve been saving ( 71 separate pieces ) and then laid out and custom cut to the same pattern as my coffee table. I’ll post the box soon.

Last is a Texas BS Box. Someone posted one made into an American flag so I wanted to do something a little different. Fortunately our state flag is simple in design so here it is. Done on the new Jet BS, and let me tell you that once the Jet is dialed in, it is a BS Box cutting son-of-a-gun. The more I use it the better I like it., My old Rockwell 14 is now set up with a special 5/8” resaw blade and does that job great

All the Christmas presents are finished or being finished, I’ve even got cheese slicing boards for each of my Doctors. I made like 30 of those and what I didn’t sell at the craft shows are now presents for the family. Oh, nearly forgot I need to build a set of corner bookcases for the wife’s office but those are her birthday presents (Dec 24). She is getting a new SUV for Christmas, probably another Buick Enclave. Got 95,000 miles on it and it is a ‘09 so time to go before it starts the “nickel and dime death dance”. Been a great car but not so good like my ‘94 Suburban that has clocked 174,000 miles with no repairs except a muffler and tail pipe that I had done in Mexico for $35, 2 batteries (youngest son owns 4 Batteries + shops so batteries are wholesale), a brake job (done by my middle son who is an executive with Auto Zone and family mechanic) and several set of tires (got no connections here).

So I ain’t been loafing, just busy with a broken camera. BTW, I won that camera used off of Ebay for $22 and got nearly 5 years service out of it. It was a Nikon as is the new one I got for $35 off Ebay. It has more bells and whistles than I’ll ever figure out.

Sounds like you have been busy. Where in Tejas are you? I’m down here at Seadrift. Just down the coast from Port O’Conner. I’ve got three boxes and a big sled going on. Got to start shipping my stuff off for Christmas too.
Your projects look great. I really like the little stool.

Continued excellent work. I really wasn’t too worried about the topless bars though.

Hey Duck, I have fished your area many times. Always the biggest Specks and even hooked and lost a big Tarpon.
I live in Spring, 45 miles north of Houston, just to the west of I-45. Been here in this same house for 45 years. It has seen me through 3 wives, 4 kids, about 25 cars and even a flood.

Do you use spinning tackle or conventional reels. I ask because I sold all my reels on Ebay but the rods are all one piece 6’-7’ and difficult to ship. I never bought any cheap tackle. All these rods are $60-100_ rods and they are just gathering dust in my garage. I’d like someone to be using them. Family doesn’t want them so if you can use, let me know. The price will be right….free and we might drift down your way after the first and deliver them. Let me know.

I retired out of Magnolia so I’m pretty familiar with the Spring area. I guide and you can never have too many rods. I have around a dozen rigs. I fish conventional level wind Shimanos, but also have spinning rods for the customers that can’t use the Shimanos.
Sounds great on you coming down. I’m on my 4th wife but I’ve had this one for 32 years next month. I have some good trout coupled up so when you come down, maybe we can wet a hook.

George, I can see you’ve been at it but unlike Monte I do have concerns about the topless bars ‹(•¿•)›

OW, I made a stool like yours with a hole in the seat many years ago. My son called it a McClellan stool after the famous saddles.

Dallas, Let hope he won’t be using this the same as the saddle was used.

Dick, you are about 20 years too late to worry about me and Titty Bars but there was a time when ….......I better not get into that. I just hate to think about all those young dancers are now grandmothers who’s main attractions have gone south.

Candy, I just love the BKP. So easy to work with but the shipping costs from Monte are 3X the cost of the wood. FedEx doesn’t need any more of my money.

Duck, you said you were on your 4th wife that reminds me of one time I introduced Kathy as my 3rd wife. She quickly corrected me and said she was my “last wife”. We celebrated 23 years in Nov so I guess she knew what she was talking about.

Thanks to all for the kind comments. Every project still has my trademark flaws and mistakes but isn’t that how you tell handcrafted from the Ikea cookie cutter stuff.

Well, I’m glad you got the camera! I love the engraving on the stool. Its an awesome personal touch. The box is going to be just right. I can’t wait to see it.

I think my favorite is the Texas BS box. Really? You had to abbreviate Band saw? That’s hysterical! Aside from being a really sweet box, It reminds me of quite a few of my friends. The whole lot of them are Texas BS boxes.

About the bars… Im shocked! ;)

-- Thanks for all the lessons!

Mark, I used to be able to make a really nice picture with a wood burner but now my hands shake and have no strength. This damn Parkinsons is partially under control and hasn’t gotten much worse than last year. I am really lucky to have my shop and projects to take the disease off my mind. Now I am lucky if you can even ready what I wood burn, but thanks.
I abbreviate anything I can. 2 fingered typing does that to you.
This Texas BS box is the first like this I have done, they’ll get better with practice.
And please don’t be shocked about my years of debauchery in these dens of aniquity. They are way behind me. It is like when you quit smoking the urge is still there. But now I am now longer allowed to have things like money and sharp objects so I have to get my kicks of the stuff I find online.
