Almost finished Christmas presents. This project was featured in the December edition of Woodworkers Journal Magazine and designed by Sandor Nagyszalancsy. My version was made From Cherry with a figured Walnut panel in the lid. The photo are a little washed out but the cherry and walnut have a really deep/rich color. The walnut I found several years ago and had been stored in a barn for almost 50 years. Three coats of Danish Oil so far and then I will finish with a coat of wax on the outside surfaces. It was a fairly easy build and I really like the design. I will be making a few more (maybe next Christmas) I’m sure.
Thanks for looking.

Beautiful boxes Rick. I like the disign (botle pop up and swallow tail, you call it dove tail ?) and also the wood combination. How far are you with your T and J truck?
I wish you and your family merry christmas and a happy new year

Hi Dutchy. Great to hear from you. Thank you for the kind comments and holiday wishes. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well. I started a T&J tractor several months ago but it has taken a back seat to build a bedroom set for my Daughter and Wife, and now Christmas gifts. I have enjoyed following your projects and appreciate the blog on your Front End Loader build.

Beautiful job. I was searching for the plans for these boxes, as I know that I had seen them in one of the magazines that I subscribe to. Thank you for narrowing the search to the December issue of Woodworkers Journal. Now, I need to locate it, unless anyone has a .pdf set of planes that they can email to me.

Does anybody have a pdf set of plans for this box? I’m having trouble finding it and need to make one for my brother in law who is a wine maker. Thank you
Have your say...
