This project started as a red oak stair tread from my childhood home. My parents recently remodeled it and had some materials for me to reclaim. The seat of the bench is the tread. I have been admiring some of Nakashima’s work lately. There are a couple of his influences reflected in the work. This was my first attempt at through wedged tenons. I used poplar wedges for contrast. Finished with Danish oil, arm r seal, and Aqua coat. I had a tough time finishing this because of some self inflicted errors. Big thanks to all the lumberjocks for helping guide me through it. This bench will be a Christmas gift for my parents.
