This project dates back to May of 2012 and somehow I never posted it here. Since the project that follows this one is related, I figured I’d put it up first. My wife asked if I could build a little bench for a pair of German china dolls that were given to our daughter some years before. I found the project in a book in our local library and gave it a shot. This was even before I knew the glory of finding 1/2 inch thick wood along the roadside, so it’s constructed from 3/4 inch pine which makes it look a bit clunky. The joinery isn’t the best, nor is the finishing. You can see in the third photo my fist ever attempt at cutting a dovetail. The one on the other side fits better at least. The piece is painted because the wood I used was stained and I didn’t feel like stripping it.
