Always interest in seeing “Scrap Wood projects’ that people post. I’ve only done some turned bracelets on the lathe and came up with this idea over the weekend. Mix of Walnut, Zebra, Maple, Purpleheart, Rosewood and Oak. THe front thicknesses vary in depth but the backside is flat. To make the recess for the movement I cut a 3” hole with a hole saw (largest I had) in a piece of 1/2” MDF and used it as a template with my new plunge router. It was just a bit small so I use a small forstner bit to make some addition room for the corners. Finished with 2 coats of Danish oil
