This is a box that was features in the latest issue of Woodsmith Magazine. I had some extra pieces of QSWO and Ash that I had laying around and put them to good use! It was a fun project to build and was able to work on some new skills.
I finished it with dark walnut oil and 3 coats of clear shellac. Buffed it down with a coat of paste wax as well.
Just a quick note…I posted this on my website for sale and it sold for $125.00! I think I will make a few more!

Holy Schmoley, I just got my issue, how’d you make and sell this one already?
Never had much luck selling boxes but I have to make a box for my fathers ashes. He’s now in hospice. So I got one of the Incra box joint jigs. I love incra stuff and since time is short I bought instead of made.

Thanks for the nice comments. For the record my project was not featured in the magazine Greg but I made one from the plan that was featured in the magazine. Jim. I subscribe to the digital addition and it comes out a week earlier than print. I had a gal in my home town that was looking for a gift for her husband and saw it on my Facebook page and wondered if she could buy it. I told her it would be $125.00 and she said perfect!! I had to take it down from my page so her husband did not see it! Funny story…the husband called me the other day and wants me to make him a shadow box for Christmas!!

JimRochester…....my thoughts also when I aw Steve’s post. You did a beautiful job Steve. I’m too chicken to try those finger joints when I saw it in the magazine. The great part about it is that your box looks almost exactly like the one in the magazine. My projects never turn out to look like the ones pictured in the magazine. Goes to show you how some of us have the skill and some of us don’t. I asked one of the editors once why that is and he very generously said, “blame it on the lighting”.....LOL.

You seem to have set up a jig to do box joints with a single blade IE no Dado.I would like to see the jig as we are not allowed dado blade set ups here in Europe Alistair nice box

Good one Andy..I try to keep the lighting pretty low on my projects!
Scotsman.. The project plan in the magazine Vol 36/No.216 lays out how to make the jig. It is really simple t make and to use. I found out that this was the easiest part of making the box!
