This piece is Camphor and is 15” in diameter and 8” tall. Turned green, the blank weighed a little over 40 lbs when mounted on the lathe. Camphor has a great range of color and chatoyance which can appear to shimmer when the light passes over it. The blank came from a crotch in the tree and the bark inclusion was left to provide a natural edge for the piece.
