Hello felows, this time I would like to share a new project I just finished.

Few days ago I was talking with my wife about make a new bench/stool for my five years old daughter use.Her pink plastic chair broken I don’t want to buy other one.

My wife told me “remember she is growing up quickly”.So I was thinking in how to make a piece for her use now and then.I made many drawings and one cardboard mock-up.

After thinking, designed and cut the pieces I was looking for at web about kids/youth benchs .To my disappointment Ifound a similar idea (and first than me) about my idea (and I was happy thinking I was the first). No problem. All merits for him.

So, because the main idea is similar but the pieces are totaly different and because my design is not a copy I decided show here to everybody.

The idea is have three diferent heights at same piece. So I choose the heights to my daughter, her young cousin and a normal adult. You can choose the convenient sizes for you.At adult position can be used as a desk.

I choose good quality brazilian wood and decided to make tapered cuts for add a little charm.5° tapered at legs and seat at kid position.

Here the sizes.I change only the seat size from 26” to 23”.The diference size at seat and maximum height at tapered leg give a little back inclination at kid seat position.

Here I designed what I need and choose where the lines will be.

The lid represent the hole size and position

I used my four sizes round corner jig for made a template and then use the template to make a round corner at tapered legs.

I cut off the sharp corner for save the router and router bit.

Here the part to be inserted at seat groove

As a kid position one height

As a kid position other height

As a bench position

As a desk

Thanks for attention

I like it alask. Your stool and desk look very good together. Multi-position was a great idea none the less. Was your Brazilian wood a lamination or a solid board? Beautiful color and nice grain selection.

Thanks for your comments. All the wood I use is from a solid board. The name of this wood is “Peroba-Mica” and the cientific name is:Aspidosperma spp. (density 0,87 g/cm3).

The bench and stool I made using only one board cutted in two parts at wood store. The original size was 100”x18”x1”.The price of it only for your comparsion is around $80 (ready to use).
