We were in need of some shelves to put movies on. I wanted something that would look nice, be functional and wouldn’t break the bank. These shelves consist of one sheet of 5/8” particle core birch and some scraps for the cleats on the wall to hold them up. They were a nice quick project that only ended up costing about $50.00. I stained them brown pear tree and finished with lacquer.

Gshepherd, their in the office I have set up in the house so if any kids pop by they shouldn’t be climbing around in that room anyway… if they are ill limit it to one child at a time, under 4’ tall with adult supervision… may have to carve out some sort of sign, next project I guess haha.

Nicely done. How do they stay upright? I don’t see any “book-ends” of any sort???? Thnx in advance.

Roger… their balanced there, the only ones that are gonna need bookends in the future are the row of just dvd cases, no box sets, the rest stay up great on their own

These look great! What dimensions did you go with? Also, did you just 45 them and glue them?

Sometimes, it takes a little bit of creativity to find the right shelving and storage for your place. I have also done the same at home where I try to envision the room and somehow, I would stumble into furniture fairs finding the right pieces of furniture and storage ideas. Sometimes, it takes a little bit of imagination to make things happen.

Awesome. Floating shelves are so awesome looking. I love the “meat” of yours, nice and thick. That color is pretty fantastic too.
