I made this hand tool cabinet out of oak I found in the trash. The drawers are beech (from the trash), and the drawer fronts are butternut (I had a lot of this). My second time doing dovetails.

Nice looking cabinet, and some fine looking dovetails. I need to go dumpster diving with you, sometime.
What considerations did you make for adding additional tools to it? In other words, how to the holders mount into the empty spaces there to add new tools?

yep the cabinet shop trash on my trip home is a real blessing… =)
the chisel racks screw to the inside of the doors… so not much.. but enough space for more holders etc. but i totally know what you mean. no french cleat or doors within doors. it’s a slow (and expensive) build getting new tools. so i think this’ll be quite fine for a while.

Josh,
I know you’re not so proud that you (like me) wont pass an inviting dumpster.
But be proud of this cabinet,
‘cos it’s a beauty.
Cheers, Jinky (James).

Good looking tool cabinet, great job on the handcut dovetails whether it was your 2nd attempt or your 20th. I also, would love to have your “trash” available for projects. Was the whole cabinet made with hand tools? Great job either way.
