Just finished my marking gauge and dovetail alignment board. Walnut and Maple with brass inserts to help with wear and tear. Finished with BLO, poly spray and 3 coats of paste wax. Thanks for looking.

That looks so good it’s almost a shame to scratch it up by using it : ))
Enjoy it.

Sir, this is inspired work. I love this marking gauge… I am still stuck in the rut of making tools with utility in mind and rarely ever make the leap to creating art. I need to start applying the same care I give my boxes to my tools…. I stared in awe at this beautiful gauge for a while and then used the palm of my hand as a head hammer…. The thing that has me most confused, is I checked out your home page to get a gander at you and you seem to be a large dog???? Lee Valley eat your heart out! Nice Work! OH! and I love your mallets too !!

Thanks for all the kind words. It was a joy and challenge to make this. Especially since I don’t have opposable thumbs. ;-)

Looks like a David Barron’s inspired set 8-)

They’re a great help with layout and marking hand-cut dovetails. Any plans in that direction?

Go find his website, and look up his magnetic dovetail guide, they’re easy to make too.

You’ll really enjoy using these tools, they work very well.

Good eye parker dude. That is in fact a David Barron inspired set. He has some great videos. I made his magnetic guide too. Looking forward to making some more sawdust.
