Very nice turning, that lid looks great, I didn't think there was a piece of ebony that large left in this world.

Lovely form. Great woods and I really like the contrast in colors on the lid. I'm glad it didn't fall off the balcony while you photo'd it. ;-)

It's actually a quite small piece, only 2 1/2 inches tall. The lid is a sad tale. I've since replaced it with stable stock, but that original lid I cut from the wrong piece… a piece that wasn't entirely dry yet. As a result, by the time I woke up the next morning, the lid was at the bottom of the box, having lost enough diameter during the night to drop completely to the bottom. Amazing-and amazingly fast-shrinkage. Luckily, I had another beautiful piece of black and white ebony to use that was dry and stable.
