Beetle-kill pine table

Made from a large ponderosa pine my son cut down and had slabbed on a neighbor’s portable mill. All the two of us could do to wrestle that top around once it was assembled. Four slabs with the center two bookended.

Those pesky beetles…. I see you are from Denver. Lots of this kind of wood available in these parts. I’ve seen quite a bit of nice furniture made from this stuff. The wood definitely has a different feel to it.
Nice build! I like how the two center panels come together on one end so that their grain pattern looks like a large fish. Did you plan this?

Yes the center two are bookend cuts.

Interesting viewpoint! The kids said it has a pair of eyes, a heart and a U , from right to left in the photo…in other words I Love You!

A couple of the bowls in my other project pictures came from the same tree. It makes great turnings too!
