I got this order during the rally. But I didn’t count it as a rally sale. The reason being, it was just a phone order that had nothing to do with the rally. The conversation was, can you make a king size bed and 2 dressers? Yes, of course. Great. I need them in 10 days before I move. Ugh.
I didn’t really have time to do it, but I hate turning down customers. So I bid it high hoping she would say no. Of course she said “Great, let’s do it”. Ugh. So here is the bed part of the order. I still need to put the hatch over the footboard storage. It’s 82” wide, 84” long. The bed frame is 18” high and the headboard is 42” high. Made of Beetle Kill Pine. To be delivered tomorrow morning at 7:00 am before they leave.
I may post the dressers later, not sure. They are like the ones I have posted before.
Thanks for reading and all comments are welcome.
I forgot to mention that the headboard is M&T joined. Pretty happy with it.

Super build and on time! I also like the extra drawers foe linens and rarely used and seasonal items lie sweaters during the summer.

Super nice bed. After the box spring and mattress, gonna need a step ladder to get in it…..but once in, it will be worth it. Like all the extra storage too. Would be cool to make a “secret” spot right in the center of all the drawers that could somehow be available. Great job again Monte. You THE man !

Monte—Yet another fine job! My wife wants me to build us a king size platform bed with 6 large drawers, pretty much like what you’ve built here. It will be made from barn cypress from a family barn she and I tore down a few years ago. She and I also decided to include a short tin roof (also salvaged from that barn) over the headboard, with lights under the roof. Maybe some open shelves separate but connected to the headboard.
Did you put drawer glides on the drawers? I can see them being filled with lots of stuff and getting pretty heavy.
BTW, got any plans, or did you just “wing it”?

Monte—This is the inspiration piece for our headboard—this was a piece used at a wedding reception. I expect that ours will look something like this:

Great bed Monte and just in time. Phew!
Don that sounds like the cypress bed I’m gonna build, minus the roof. I have a roof over my house. Is that in case a tree comes through? I’m planning to use 24” drawer slides with full extension. Ours is only a queen bed. I will either make the drawers a little longer than the slides or just have some wasted space in between the two sides. Can’t really put the middle drawer like this one because we have a trunk at the foot of the bed. I’m planning to make the sides with a rail and stile face frame and then just a solid panel at the foot end.

great build monte
glad you got some ongoing work
made one like this years ago
(ply base with ply top)
three spaces under for drawers
we had 3 dogs
that moved into them
before i made the drawers
left it that way
no more dogs underfoot
or up on the bed again

Impressive in design, construction and display of variety in your product line. But, most impressive is your commitment to customer service and work ethic in getting the product completed under time constraints. Congratulations on another job well done.

Monte, That turned out great! The time crunch was an added stress but you rose to the occasion as usual.
