My family does not want any more boxes. So I have to find reasons to make boxes for myself. This one is for my Record 044 Plough Plane. I love this tool. It came with the original box, but it’s just a cardboard thing that I don’t want to destroy, so that’s safely put aside. I had some cedar sitting around, so decided to try that. Tough wood to do dovetails with. It just kind of crumbles away. But all in all, it came out pretty decently. 100% hand tooled. Used some drawer pulls as side handles. Later I put in some screw eyes and a chain to hold the cover open. Finished with a few coats of shellac. Anyway, looks pretty good for a shop box, and does what it needs to. I’m working on another one for my Stanley router plane.

Those joints look good. particularly for cedar. This is much nicer than the cardboard one.
I love that the box only fits on your bench with help from an open vise ha ha.
that strikes me as funny. It definitely reminds me of my shop when i am working on something.

Ha, true enough on the bench extension/vise. But in my defense, those photos are a few weeks old. I’ve cleaned up quite a bit since then and I’m doing a decent job keeping it clean.

Have your say...
