Ironwood is an extremely hard type of wood. It is normally heavy, oily and due to the high silica content quite rough on the tools. All that being said, if you take your time and work hard to get it all polished up it is a beautiful looking wood. This wand is laminated with a 1/4 piece of oak and finished with a coat of wipe on poly.

Also, ‘iron’ woods are the only woods that are heavy enough to sink in water.

Science lesson over, lets turn a wand…

We used to have some nic-nac things made out of iron wood, cactus and the howling coyote thing that was so popular in the 90’s, your not kidding the wood is sooooooooo heavy.

You did such a great job on this piece I dig it.
