My lovely wife is a teacher and I wanted to make her a going back to school present. I drew A LOT of inspiration from http://lumberjocks.com/projects/98209 . Thanks to jordanp for the idea.
I am not too confident with the woodburner so I decided to not include the numbers above the hashmarks. I chiseled notches then burned the recess. Its hardly perfect but she loves it. Hopefully some of her coworkers are a little jealous.:)
The main body of the ruler is redheart. The inlay and the “wear” strip are red leaf tiger maple. It is finished with Arm R Seal. It only took a few hours, but this is one of my favorite projects so far.
Thanks for looking.
-- I measured once, cut twice, and its still too short...

neat project. How did you get the hashmarks perfect? Can she use it as child alignment tool?
