I built the box a few years ago to serve as a trunk on the motorcycle ( ). I recently decided to build a luggage rack to sit on top of the box. I made a template to match the curve of the box top, and then cut the two end pieces on the band saw (double-sided tape holding them together). Corners are hand cut dovetails. The longitudinal struts are joined to the end pieces with mortise and tenon joints. I have not yet decided how to keep the luggage rack on top of the box. I’m considering bungee cords, but I’d rather come up with something just as easy and more interesting. I need it to be easily removable. I’ll probably use cork or some other soft material between the box top and the end pieces. All oak. Arm-R-Seal finish.

Great idea for more space

Your wooden additions to the bike look great. I had a Honda Shadow a couple of years ago that I considered adding to in a similar way; this makes me wish I had. What is the make and model of your motorcycle?
