My brother in-law started smoking cigars and he needed a humidor. He asked me to build one for his birthday. So, I built him this humidor.

The main wood is walnut, the interior is Spanish cedar and the accents are red oak. The red oak accent was splintering badly when making the double corner post dovetails, but I managed to make it work. I miscalculated the walnut requirements for the top, so I added red oak racing stripes. It turned out nicely.

I had a fun figuring out the Incra Positioner with its accessories to make the corner double dovetails, especially adding the 1/8” kerf to be able to cut the top so that the dovetails looks uniform everywhere.

Take care,

Joao Araujo

wow, those corners are amazing! Do you do that by cutting each dove tail twice: big ones joining the corner to red oak, then smaller ones joining the red oak to the sides?

-- I do this for fun.

Yes, that is the way it is done.

Take care,

Very nice looking and it looks like you got the Incra Positioner figured out perfectly.

Have your say...
