These lamps have a walnut core with quarter saw en white oak laminated around them. I have taken four walnut wedges and cut the points off of one edge so the wire will have a place to traverse the lamp. The blank is then run thru the table saw to make it an octagon upon which I then laminated eight pieces of Brazilian cherry. The base is a mystery wood because I cannot remember what type of wood it is as it has been laying around the shop for several years and the marking disappeared.
