I made this bed frame in an attempt to match two separate styles of existing furniture. I used 8/4 mahogany for the headboard and footboard. 4/4 maple completes the hb/fb. I used 5/4 maple for the rails. The rails have large tenons that support the weight along with large bed bolts. There is a center support rail to support the slats. I used a wiping varnish to finish the whole piece.

Very nice. I like the contrasting woods.

Almost a shame to put a mattress on it!

Looks great.
