Here is a commissioned piece I made for my Chief. They are made out of thick pine table extension leafs that I laminated together. I used my home-made circle jig to cut them out. Then used a roman ogee router bit to form a nice edge. They are fire hydrant base platforms that are used to prevent rust circles from forming on his carpet.

I would never thought to collect fire hydrants, but why not?

Nicely done base.

OK let me first to state what most of you are already thinking: Inside fire hydrants on carpet?
I’d venture to say the chief probably doesn’t own a dog….

The Hydrant could be in his office at the station so there could be a Dog around as well. The Department my Dad worked for when I was a Kid always had a Dog around that rode on the Trucks to the Fires.
