A couple of frames I made using scrap red oak flooring boards I was given. It was nice to reuse something that was other wise going to be trash.

The chalkboard frame was made using a mitered bridle joint with dark walnut stain and 2 coats of brush on polyurethane.

The corkboard frame was made using splined miter joints with walnut splines; however, the splines blend in once the dark walnut stain was applied, again 2 coats of brush on polyurethane for finish.

Thanks for looking

I agree with reusing materials. Nice frames. I have used Ash and Cherry flooring scraps for bread and cheese boards.
