To go along with the furniture for my client, I had to create CD holders. The Client is an avid CD/DVD collector. The units are 5 3/4” x 5 1/2” x 8”. I created a stave cylinder, with kraft paper glued in to allow for easy separation. Turned the cylinders round and split each cylinder, so I would have 2 half moons. Rather than trying to turn the inside, I opted to cut the cylinder on the band saw to fit the CD. 2 Maple ends and you have a rack. Finished with 5 coats of Minwax Gel Stain and 2 coats of Wipe on Poly.
Each unit will hold approximately 125 CDs.

I would think they would get scratched easily. I looked to see if they were square to hold the case. That is some nice work and good looking wood!

I would have agreed with your comment, but The client currently stores his CDs out of the case. A case that you build what the customer wants.

Thanks for your comments,
