My latest build is this bookshelf made from reclaimed oak out of a local barn that I salvaged. It is 6’ tall and 30” wide and the shelves vary in height. It was built for a family member that was looking for something a little different than what you can find at your local Wal-Mart. I lightly planed and sanded down to give them the rustic appearance they were looking for.

Its a bit challenging working with barn wood and you did a very good job. Looks nice. Did you put any kind of finish or top coat on it??

Thank you. I usually finish my barnwood pieces with polyurethane but this one was just left as is. The people I made it for liked the look without a finish so it has a very rustic look to it. I personally prefer a polyurethane only, but that’s just my opinion.
