I had some scraps of cherry and walnut and a couple of hours, so this seemed like a good idea. It beats (no pun intended) the small claw hammer I had been using with my chisels.

The only problem is it rattles quite a bit. Next time I’ll fill in around the ball bearings with some epoxy or maybe just some saw dust and glue. Hopefully this one will work for a long time.

Nice job on the mallet!. If it has bearings in it, it must be a dead blow hammer. Try round lead fishing sinkers!
