This is my first ever attempt at segmenting. I was very excited that it turned out better than I expected! It is sycamore, maple, and purple heart. My husband and father-in-law got into woodworking about 2 years ago. My father-in-law bought me my lathe to keep me busy. Now I am so addicted! Little did he know he was creating a monster. I already have 4 more bowls in the making. Not to mention other projects, pepper grinders, pens, misc other creations….
I love this site. I love looking at everyone’s incredible creations and ideas. There is so much talent out there!

Thanks everyone! I hope I am answering this correctly – first I wet sanded with 100% wax free shellac. Then I did 3 coats of 50/50 (minwax gloss poly/mineral spirits) and then one coat of minwax gloss polyurathane

That is a FINE bit of Turning, you should be rightfully proud of it!! I’ve not ventured into Segmented Bowls as yet, but if my 1st one comes out like yours, I’ll be VERY pleased.
